The next generation in floor screeds

The use of flowing screeds is not a new development in the building sector. Products containing calcium sulphate have been available for over 25 years. The traditional sand and cement screeds have been more commonly specified and used. Which means the advantages are well known in terms of the speed and ease of application.

Cemfloor is very similar to other flowing screeds except for the fact it is cement based rather than Gypsum. This has delivered enhanced benefits. Once applied the drying times are even quicker. You don’t need any special preparation time before applying the floor finish and it is compatible with all cement-based adhesives.

There are a range of applications for Cemfloor. It has been designed for use as a bonded thick levelling screed on concrete; an unbonded screed for application on top of a membrane; a floating screed for thermal or acoustic insulation.

Bonded screeds

This is a screed that is bonded to an underlying surface such as a slab, block floor or beam. Usually thinner than any other form of screed and often used as a leveler to build up the surface before insulation or dry boards are installed.

Unbonded screeds

In this process the screed is not bonded to an underlying surface. To ensure there is no bonding a separating membrane, normally polythene is installed. This is usually specified where there is a need for a DPM between the underlying surface and the screed.

Floating screeds

In simple terms this is a screed overlaid on something that is not rigid. Buildings now have a requirement to be more energy efficient and to meet certain acoustic standards. This has led to an increase in demand for floating screeds.

Underfloor Heating

Cemfloor is an ideal screed to apply if you are installing underfloor heating. It can be applied in very thin sections allowing for a minimum of 25mm above the electric heating cables or warm water pipework. The composite mix of the screed will ensure thermal conductivity is much more efficient.
